Andrea Bartoli

Andrea Bartoli is the gentleman peace broker you turn to when warring factions must end their conflict or destroy the nation. A leader in the community of Sant’Egidio, Andrea has now formed the S.E. Foundation for Peace and Dialog to share these sought-after conflict resolution techniques worldwide.
At age 13, Andrea joined the fledgling a spirituality study club of 25 individuals in Italy – called Sant’Egidio (Italian for Saint Giles). By age 29 he was called upon to peaceably resolve the warring conflicts between the forces trying to rule the newly independent nation of Mozambique. And the Sant’Egidio community has grown to a quarter million members. The Pope, impressed by this lay group’s effectiveness, has given the community Vatican support.
Working with the U.N, the World Bank, the Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes, Andrea has carried the torch of peace brokering to literally dozens nations from Norway and Poland, to Guatamela and East Timor. Previously, Andrea founded the Center for International Conflict Resolution at Columbia University and has served as Dean of the School of Diplomacy at Seton Hall University.
